Division of Forestry crews have started going back to work and preparing for the summer wildfire season.
At the Palmer supply facility, people are busy packaging the essentials-- chainsaws, chaps, shirts, MRE's and tons and tons of coffee.
"Oh man, we probably go through a good pallet or two of coffee a year," Amber Rosser, a wildland fire support specialist, said, "so two pounds a can, six cans a pack, a giant pallet, we go through a lot."
About 65 wildland fire fighters for the Mat-Su region will be working this summer.
"Our goal is to be fully functional, 100 percent ready by May 1st," Norm McDonald, Fire Management Officer for the Mat-Su office said. "I think we're on track for that this year."
McDonald says despite the region getting a lot of snow this past winter, most of it has already melted. He also said the region might increase its fire danger level this week to moderate.
