At around 5 P-M Saturday, firefighters with the city say a fire broke out in the department's garage.
They say the fire started in the engine compartment of one of the department's SUVs used by battalion chiefs.
City communications director Teal Soden says an outside investigator is helping determine the fire's cause. She says the department is still assessing damage caused by the blaze.
"The SUV was a total loss. We're still assessing the smoke damage in the bay. There was another vehicle in the bay with a window rolled down, so there's some smoke damage to that vehicle, but as for the rest of the damage, we're still looking at it."
