An Anchorage barbeque restaurant was destroyed by a large fire early Sunday morning. The Anchorage Fire Department says nobody was injured. A 911 caller reported smoke and fire coming from The Bar-B-Q Pit on Dimond at around 3:15 a.m. The first firefighter arrived within minutes and found “heavy fire coming from openings at the rear of the building.” “Due to the advanced state of the fire upon arrival of firefighting crews, only exterior firefighting operations were possible,” AFD wrote in a statement. Firefighters were on scene for over three hours before the fire was finally brought under control at around 6:20 a.m. A total of 21 AFD units responded to the blaze.
