Proposition 8: Anchorage public safety and public transportation improvements

Proposition 8 would fund public safety and public transportation improvements, if approved by voters on April 3rd. The bond total for Proposition 8 is $4,908,000. An Anchorage homeowner with a $300,000 home, the property tax would increase by about three dollars. The taxable amount under Prop 8 is based on $0.99 per $100,000 of assessed property value, according to the bond. ere's a list of the breakdown of the costs: $270,000 for Fire LifePack 12 Cardiac Monitors & CPR system replacements. $500,000 for school zone safety. $700,000 for two Fire Department Ambulances. $2,250,000 for Anchorage Area-Wide Radio Network (AWARN) Infrastructure Upgrade. City officials said the system would allow first responders here to communicate with statewide agencies if there was a big emergency.
