Semmes plans new fire station, hopes to reduce emergency response times

Mobile County’s newest city has taken the initial steps toward building a $2 million fire station on Schillinger Road that officials say will help firefighters and ambulances reach emergencies faster, particularly in the eastern part of town. “Our most dense population is in the eastern part of the city,” said Councilwoman Mary Calhoun, who chairs the Public Safety Committee. “It will decrease response times.”
