Birmingham firefighters were on the scene of a vacant house fire on Friday morning. The fire started around around 3 a.m. on 59th place South. Battalion Chief Thomas White says the home has been vacant for a few years and was boarded up, but a homeless person was able to get in and start a fire in the fireplace to keep warm. White says the fire got out of control and that's what caused the two-story home to burn. No injuries have been reported.
