(VIDEO) Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to a house fire Tuesday in the Dolomite area. The fire occurred on North Street. Birmingham Fire & Rescue says that one of their firefighters was injured and has been taken to the hospital. There is no word on the extent of the injuries. Firefighter Jonathan Mandy said they believe the blaze started in the rear of the home but the cause is under investigation. The house does not appear to be a total loss, Mandy said. WBRC spoke to a family member of the homeowner, who wished not to be identified. The family member said the homeowner had lived in the house for years along with his mother. They said the homeowner was at work at the time of the fire and his mother is OK. They called the fire "devastating" for the family.
