The Personnel Board approved this morning an additional step of merit pay increase for Decatur Fire Chief Tony Grande that will give him a raise of $8,684 annually. Grande’s salary increases two steps on the pay scale from $84,760 to $93,444 annually. Formerly with the Knoxville, Tennessee, Fire Department, Grande was hired in 2014 at an annual salary of $76,800. Human Resources Director Richelle Sandlin said Mayor Don Kyle recommended the raise because he is pleased with Grande’s job performance. Sandlin also said the two-step increase puts Grande’s salary in line with the pay of the other directors and new Police Chief Nate Allen. Allen was hired in May at an annual salary, including vehicle allowance, of $93,444.
