An apartment fire in Birmingham displaced 40 people on Saturday.
One woman said she lost everything, but she is thanking God she and her son made it out alive.
"It was scary seeing something like that," said Toya Watindi, a cousin of a tenant. "For a whole entire building to be on fire, and people living in there and they can't get out, jumping from the balcony. It's very scary."
The fire started at Sandpiper Apartments on Barcelona Court early Saturday morning.
Cell phone video captured smoke pouring out of the windows and roof as firefighters worked to control the flames and get the tenants out.
