Members of the Florence Fire Department spent more than an hour this morning searching the Tennessee River for a reported operator-less bass boat seen flowing on the water but did not find the vessel. “We got a call this morning from someone going south on Singing River Bridge that saw a boat drifting in the river,” Colbert County Emergency Management Agency Director Mike Melton said. Melton said he sent police officers from Sheffield to O’Neal Bridge to see if they could see the boat. Florence Fire put a boat in the water to try and locate it, and went from the harbor at McFarland Park to the dam and then back to the mouth of Cypress Creek. Reports were firefighters were never able to locate a boat or any debris floating in the water.
