The Moulton City Council met for a work session Monday night to discuss hiring a new firefighter. Moulton Fire Chief Ryan Jolly made the initial request to add a new firefighter at the last regular council meeting via presentation. He said he wants to replace a firefighter who resigned last year and promote someone within the department to a supervisory position – a position which would have to be created with the approval of the City Council. "I don't know if whether we can hire a fireman right now," said Mayor Roger Weatherwax. Impressed with Jolly's presentation, Councilwoman Cassandra Lee said that even though the city might not be able to afford creating a new position right now, the council should revisit the issue periodically to see if it is feasible in the future.
