Hoover Firefighters are investigating an apartment fire Wednesday that has left several families displaced.
Around 3:30 p.m., the Hoover Fire Department responded to the Riverchase Landing Apartments off of River Haven Drive.
According to Hoover FD executive officer Rusty Lowe, the department believes the 900 building was struck by lightning,though the cause it is still under investigation. The building sustained smoke damage and heavy fire damage in the attic.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze and all occupants were able to escape safely. The department estimates up to 30 people may be displaced.
At this time, Hoover Fire Department is working with the Red Cross to assist families.
