The Dothan Fire Department will soon have a more permanent structure to teach the public basic fire safety tips – at no cost to taxpayers.
Jubilee Builders has agreed to construct the “Jubilee Builders Teach Me House,” which will have similar amenities to the mobile safety unit the fire department uses at area schools to teach children about fire safety, said Fire Chief Larry Williams. For its part, the Dothan City Commission approved a measure Tuesday to accept in-kind donations on behalf of the project, which will be part of the Wiregrass Public Safety Center that crews are currently constructing.
First responders will also use the facility for training scenarios, especially in evaluating emergency response, Williams said. Larry Wooley of Jubilee Builders said the project gives his company a chance to give back to the community.
