The identity of a burned body discovered by deputies Wednesday in Covington County was released as part of an ongoing homicide investigation. Covington County Sheriff Dennis Meeks confirmed the body was identified as 49-year-old Bruce Wayne Nelson of Andalusia. According to the 22nd Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force, around 3:45 a.m. deputies were called to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Brooklyn Road. When deputies arrived, they found a burned vehicle that was still smoking at a residence.
