Some folks in Prichard are relieved they have some new firefighting tools. Two new fire trucks go into service today. Residents of Prichard got their first chance to see the city's two new fire trucks this morning when the firefighting apparatus went on display at the A.J. Cooper Municipal Complex. The fire trucks went on display beginning at 8 a.m., with citizens being allowed to autograph the hoses on the trucks. A public christening ceremony was set for noon. You may remember there was controversy late last year when the city went to purchase the trucks. The concern was the cost. The Prichard City Council voted down the purchase until the interest on the loan was significantly lowered.
