Companies with the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department on Tuesday morning were battling a residential fire in the 2300 block of Gill Road. That's off Dauphin Island Parkway near Dog River. Just after 8 a.m., MFRD described it via Twitter as a "working residential fire." MFRD tells FOX10 News the home was fully engulfed as crews arrived and that a tenant and a toddler are safe after evacuating the house in time. Fire officials believe the cause of the fire may have been a space heater and candle in of the back bedrooms. This house fire comes a few hours after the department responded to another residential fire in the city. That one was an early morning blaze on Robert E. Lee Street in which a father and son escaped.
