VIDEO: A critical warning from Birmingham Fire and Rescue: firefighters say two people have died over the last month in fires and both victims were mobility challenged. Public Information Officer and Battalion Chief Clay Hendon says these are truly tragic losses and firefighters say we need to step up and help our loved ones who struggle to get around. “If we got our mobility challenged friends, families or loved ones in our homes and we are taking care of them, then we need to make sure that the environment they are in is safe,” said Battalion Chief Clay Hendon. He says you need to check and potentially change their smoke detectors batteries. You also need to ensure that there is not any lithium batteries left charging overnight. Where your loved one lives in the house also plays a factor.
