At 2:18 a.m., Thursday, February 18, the Linker Mountain, Dover City, Dover Rural and Hatley Fire Departments responded to a report of a structure fire at 3571 Linker Mountain Road. The rural fire departments were dispatched to respond to the report, after Pope County dispatchers received a 911 call reporting the fire. After being toned to respond the fire, firefighters with the corresponding departments advised Pope County 911 dispatch they were en route to their stations and responding to the scene.
As fire units responded, the Pope County dispatcher advised firefighters responding that the 911 caller advised a shed was on fire. The caller stated that the shed was located near several vehicles, the garage and the house.
Upon the arrival of the Linker Mountain Fire Department, firefighters advised dispatch that the shed was fully involved.
Firefighters began their attack in the flames exiting the shed and after the quick action, advised dispatch that the fire was contained.
As additional fire units arrived on scene, they began dousing a car that was parked under a carport that had been damaged by the fire that destroyed the shed. The fire also caused damage to a GMC Sierra that was parked under a carport located directly behind the shed and on the left side of the car.
