A man was being held in the Woodruff County jail Thursday as authorities say the man confessed to setting fire to the Cotton Plant Police Department last year.
According to a post on the Woodruff County Sheriff's Department Facebook page, Travis Paleafei was arrested on suspicion of arson, burglary, criminal mischief, terroristic threatening and possession of a controlled substance after an investigation by deputies and the Arkansas State Police.
In the post, Sheriff Phil Reynolds said the department has investigated several arsons in the Cotton Plant area in the past year or so. Deputies arrested Paleafei on an unrelated warrant and interviewed him.
"Mr. Paleafei was interviewed at the jail, where he confessed to the CPPD fire and partially confessed to other crimes," the post noted.
