A Fort Smith residence sustained damage from a fire that took place on Monday, according to Fort Smith Fire Marshal Ronnie Rogers.
Rogers said a 911 call about the fire came in at 12:36 p.m. Monday. The fire started in the attic at 1701 N. 45th Terrace, possibly as the result of an electric short.
The family living at the residence was at home when the fire started, Rogers said. However, everybody got out safely with no injuries or fatalities. The garage and attic of the residence sustained significant damage, and there was smoke and heat throughout the house, Rogers said.
