A fire department in Independence County battled a Thursday morning house fire. The Southside Volunteer Fire Department shared several images of the blaze on their Facebook page. Chief Jeremy Loggins said the house was at the corner of Tony Lane and Brushy Road. No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. Loggins said one side of the house was destroyed but said the end of the home that housed the bedrooms was saved. The fire appears to have started near the carport, but the exact cause is not known yet, according to the chief.
