The Sebastian County Quorum Court approved the purchase of a fire truck during its regular meeting Tuesday.
A memo from Sebastian County Judge David Hudson states a fire truck had been located for $35,000 from a company owned and operated by Gary Lawrence, the mayor of Huntington, and Duane Logsdon, the fire chief of Huntington. The vehicle cost includes hoses, ladders, nozzles, and valves and is ready to place into service.
“This truck will be located in the Huntington Rural Fire District and Milltown/Washburn Rural Fire District, which will facilitate a reduction in the ISO rating,” the memo states.
After voting to suspend the rules to go to a second and third reading, the justices of the peace passed the ordinance approving the company, L&L Fire Apparatus, for the purchase of the fire truck.
