VIDEO: The Jonesboro Fire Department responded to a warehouse fire shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon near Paragould Drive at Peterson’s Variety.
According to Fire Chief Marty Hamrick, the first crew arrived within four minutes of the call and immediately began efforts to extinguish the fire.
“The amount of involvement made it impossible for our crews to go interior and fight it like we typically would. So, we had to set up and flow through windows and whatever openings that the fire had already made to be able to extinguish,” Chief Hamrick stated.
He also noted challenges exacerbated by weather conditions, saying, “Yesterday we had a lot of wind, we had several grass fires that were also started by this fire. So, we were trying to make sure we got ahead of those, so it didn’t spread.”
