VIDEO: A potentially dangerous hazmat situation was contained Tuesday afternoon. Phoenix firefighters responded to the Quantum Clean facility, located at 3925 E. Watkins St., about 5 p.m. following reports of an orange cloud of smoke over the building. The copper cleaning facility was evacuated when 70 gallons of nitric acid became contaminated, producing smoke when heated. Phoenix firefighters said the facility has safety measures in place, which made their job easier. “The internal system here at the facility was actually able to contain and stabilize the product,” the Phoenix Fire Department’s Capt. Ardell Deliz said. There were no injuries reported in the incident.
