The Eloy Fire District put on its annual awards banquet Feb. 6 to honor the many firefighters in the district for their exemplary service. Nearly 100 people packed the Robson Ranch Clubhouse where firefighters, employees and guests alike “enjoyed a great meal and unmeasured camaraderie,” said Eloy Fire Marshal Bob Poindexter. The award for engine company of the year went to firefighters Adan Rodriguez, Chris Spade, Jose Quiroz, Capt. Kris Middleton and Raul Lopez. At Station 1, the firefighter of the year award went over to Michael Denison, or “MikeyD” as he is sometimes called. The honor at Station 2 went to Jeremy Leary. Beyond the firefighters, the district also honored the hard work of its human resources officer, Suzy Bartlett. In addition to these awards, the fire district also honored Gilbert Tarango, who retired from service at the end of last year.
