VIDEO: Tucson firefighters are seeing an increase in calls regarding bee attacks for this time of year. Crews with the Tucson Fire Department responded to 88 bee swarm calls within Tucson city limits in April alone. During the weekend, two dogs died after being stung at a home near Valencia and Houghton roads. In a separate incident, a man was stung more than 30 times last week. Luckily, he recovered. Firefighters said bees are constantly on guard for possible threats to the hive. When firefighters respond to a bee hive call, they sometimes use foam to suffocate the bees. "The foam itself, we don't like to use, because it will kill the bees and the bees are part of nature," said Capt. Barrett Baker of TFD. "So on the 90 calls we've been on, we've only had to use the foam four or five times when life safety is really in jeopardy."
