PHOTO: Fire investigators with the City of Yuma Fire Department are still trying to determine what caused a fire that heavily damaged a single-wide recreational vehicle type travel trailer early Wednesday morning. “Right now the cause is still undetermined,” said fire department spokesman Mike Erfert. “It is still under investigation.” Erfert said that at about 2:40 a.m., a fire was reported in the 1900 block of South 3rd Avenue, with firefighters quickly responding to the scene. Firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the trailer, which was located in a trailer park at 1925 S. 3rd Ave. Firefighters were able to quickly reduce the flames and heat coming from the fire’s edge and extinguish it. Erfert said firefighters initially received reports that an elderly resident may have been in the trailer at the time, but it was found to have been unoccupied. “The trailer had been padlocked from the outside,” Erfert said. The trailer sustained heavy damage and fire investigators were called to the scene to look for the cause of the fire.
