VIDEO: Two Valley teens were honored as heroes on Tuesday by Glendale firefighters and police officers for saving a woman in a burning apartment. Malikah Barfield, 14, and Bryson Burris, 12, heard crying from an apartment on Oct. 12, in the 7000 block of North 75th Avenue, and noticed smoke coming from the residence. Without hesitation, the two boys grabbed a fire extinguisher from a common area of the building and extinguished the fire, the Glendale Fire Department said in a post on Facebook. The teens then went back into the unit with a Glendale police officer and helped the woman, who was attempting to commit suicide by taking pills and lighting a fire in her kitchen, out of her apartment.
