The Buckskin Fire District and La Paz County have taken steps to correct the County Supervisors’ approval of a higher tax rate for the fire district than what was presented to the county. The district’s budget will remain the same, as will the tax rate. However, approximately $7,000 will be set aside each month and then applied to the district’s budget for fiscal year 2018-19. County Finance Director Terry Krukemyer said this course of action came about from discussions with the fire district board and Assessor Ana Camacho. He said it met all the legal requirements involved. “This was the best, most practical solution to an unintended mistake,” he said.
