The Mohave Valley Fire Department is hoping to get some new training and equipment that would make it core capable in wildland firefighting. Division Chief Harley Harmon told the fire district’s governing board Tuesday that the MVFD has applied for a $13,483 Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant, which would cover a training trip to Prescott for three department employees and a pump for a fire boat. It’s a federal grant, administered by the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management. Harmon said that the MVFD may receive a partial grant, such as a “yes” on the training and a “no” on the fire pump.
