With a new fire chief in place, Rio Rico firefighters are hoping to ditch an unpopular schedule that was implemented earlier this year and return to the old one. All members of the union representing Rio Rico Fire District firefighters support the change, said Nick Quiroga, vice-president of IAFF Local 4631. Al Flores, a longtime RRFD firefighter who was named chief in September, agreed to re-evaluate the schedule change during a governing board meeting on Tuesday. He said his decision on whether to maintain the new schedule or switch back to the old one will be made within six months after he analyzes the pros and cons of the two plans.
