Four fires, three hours: Blazes keep Yuma firefighters busy

City of Yuma firefighters responded to four fires in three hours hours, beginning late Tuesday night with a fire reported at 11:34 p.m. at a vacant house in the 900 block of North 1st Street. When firefighters arrived on scene they found heavy smoke and flames coming from home. The fire was fully extinguished within 30 minutes. It seemed on Tuesday night that as soon as Yuma firefighters put out one fire, they were called to the scene of another, responding to four fires that happened over a span of several hours in Yuma's north end, lasting until early Wednesday morning. According to information provided by Yuma Fire Department spokesman Mike Erfert, starting at about 11:30 p.m., over the next three hours, City of Yuma firefighters responded to four fires in the north part of town.
