The state’s largest fire district started four decades ago in Lloyd Golder’s living room. Lloyd and friend Bob Murray knew the newfound area of dust, saguaros and not much else on the northern end of Tucson was in desperate need of quality fire services. They also knew that another person in the area wanted to do the same—thus spurring the duo to leap into action.
