Members of the Oatman Fire District Board accepted the resignation of their fire chief Tuesday.
“I think on behalf of the board we’d like to thank Rick for his service,” said Tim Brown, board chairman. “I know personally I’ve learned a lot while he was here and we really appreciate him coming here and we appreciate everything that he’s done.”
After voting to accept the chief’s resignation, board members appointed Battalion Chief Gary Lambertson to be interim fire chief.
“It’s been an interesting ride,” Chief Rick Leivas said in his statement to the board. “We’ve had some ups and downs here.
