The Bouse Fire Department has obtained a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Administration for staffing their department. Fire Chief John Novak said the four-year grant will allow them to have three people on duty seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Novak said the grant was from FEMA’s SAFER program, which provides money for fire department staffing. For volunteer departments, it provides them with funds for volunteer recruitment and retention. The total grant is $432,000 for four years, or $108,000 per year.
