A brush fire near Sunset Point north of the Phoenix area burned at least 25 acres Saturday afternoon, restricting southbound Interstate 17 traffic to one lane for several hours and causing long delays for hours after that. But as of about 9 p.m., officials reported the backups had greatly diminished. On Sunday morning, fire crews were working to put out "hot spots," but most of the fire had been put out by 7 p.m. Saturday, said Dave Wilson, a battalion chief with the Daisy Mountain Fire Department. The blaze, which officials are calling the Poison Creek Fire, broke out at about 12:45 p.m., Wilson said.
