The Arizona City Fire District has undergone some financial changes under the tenure of its new chief. The amount budgeted for personnel costs has increased by about $340,000 over the last three years, district records show. The district had mostly consisted of part-time employees who also worked for neighboring fire departments. After Heaton became chief two years ago, he took steps to phase out the part-timers to increase efficiency for the department. The chief said he’s pleased with the results of employing 12 full-time staffers.
