Firefighters on Tuesday saved a 5-year-old dog after finding the dog unresponsive in a home that had gone up in flames Tuesday afternoon, displacing 13 residents, the Maricopa Fire Department said. Crews responded to the 44000 block of West Griffis Drive in Maricopa for a reported house fire just after 3 p.m Tuesday, finding flames shooting out of the second-floor windows. All 13 residents — five adults and eight children — were accounted for and were standing outside the home when crews arrived.
