Tacna and Wellton firefighters respond to brush fire along Gila River

Firefighters from the Tacna Volunteer Fire Department, with the assistance of the Wellton Fire Department, were able to get a fire along the Gila River under control in about an hour and a half Tuesday night. Capt. Donald Pelfrey said the fire was reported at about 7 p.m. in the vicinity of Avenue 42E and the river bottom, and his agency responded with an engine, a tender and a command unit.
