Firefighters from multiple agencies were called to the Pima County Fairgrounds to help battle a fire on Friday, April 20. According to Capt. Todd Cupell of the Corona de Tucson Fire District, about 150 to 200 pallets caught fire and the fire was reported at about 4:30 a.m. Because of the size of the fire, crews from the Rural-Metro Fire Department and Rincon Valley Fire District were called to help. No injuries were reported. The pallets were located near the northwest part of the fairgrounds near 4-H exhibits and horse stables, but the horses and other animals were never in danger. The fire was near an area with other livestock, including goats, cows and chickens.
