Firefighters just conducted their annual charity shopping spree and will host another big toy drive later this month, just in time to brighten Christmas for more deserving children in Surprise. The Surprise Firefighter Charities 13th Annual Aisles of Smiles event was hosted Dec. 5 at Target, 13731 W. Bell Road. The event focused on 215 area children, who were treated to a pizza dinner followed by a $50 shopping spree aided by firefighters and volunteers, who helped the young shoppers navigate the store and choose their gifts. The dinner and shopping spree were funded by donations from multiple charity events held throughout the year and Surprise Firefighter Charities spent around $11,000 on purchases at last night’s event.
