The City of San Luis Fire Chief Hank Green has retired after 11 years of service with the city. The City of San Luis City Council and City staff are immensely grateful to Chief Green for his honorable service to the community, and wish him all the best with his retirement. Chief Hank Green began his career with the City of San Luis in 2007 as a consultant on a temporary basis. Shortly after, the City of San Luis asked Chief Green to stay to oversee the demands of a rapidly growing city and fire department. When Chief Green joined the city of San Luis 11 years ago, the ambulance service available in the city was provided by Rural/Metro in Yuma, a private fire service company. In 2011, however, Chief Green negotiated an Intergovernmental Agreement with the City of Somerton, in which two ambulances were designated to service the San Luis area. Subsequently, in 2015, the City of San Luis Fire Department acquired certification from the state to operate its own ambulance service.
