The people attempting to launch a volunteer fire department in Sahuarita used two fake addresses when filing for incorporation with the Arizona Corporation Commission in October, but changed the address Monday after being vilified by dozens of Sahuarita residents on Facebook over the weekend.
Since June, those associated with the Sahuarita Volunteer Fire Department, at one time called the Sahuarita Heights Volunteer Fire Department, have been trying to raise funds through social media and crowd-sourcing sites to purchase fire trucks and other equipment.
On Friday, a man who identified himself as Wilson John, and calling himself the president of the department, announced on multiple Sahuarita Facebook pages that the department would be charging a $65 annual subscriber fee for services. Sahuarita is already served by Rural Metro Fire via subscription service.
