A house in Maricopa caught fire Monday afternoon after an apparent malfunction with an air conditioning unit. The Maricopa Fire Department responded to the house on Buckhorn Trail in the Alterra neighborhood at 3:45 p.m. and discovered that an air conditioning unit was being installed at the home when it caught fire. There were three workers and one resident at home when the fire started, and all are reported to have made it out safely. Flames continued to be seen from the home for some time after the initial response. Due to the wind, firefighters were focused on preventing the flames from spreading to other properties. Around 4:25, the flames were under control, with the firefighters checking for hot spots.
