Construction crews accidentally caused a gas leak which forced people from their homes in a north Phoenix neighborhood on Thursday. The workers were doing road work on 54th Street and Dynamite Boulevard when they broke a 2-inch gas line around 11 a.m, firefighters said. Four homes, which had eight people inside, were evacuated. The Phoenix Fire Department helped those evacuated with shelter and water. They weren't evacuated for long, as they were able to return to their homes around 30 minutes later when crews shut down the gas line. Southwest Gas secured the leak and stayed until the gas line was repaired. There were no injuries.
