While some Duncan residents enjoyed the cool of the evening last Tuesday, many of their neighbors were discussing annexation. Members of the Duncan Fire Department and the committee to annex the town into the district met with stakeholders to discuss the benefits of being in the fire district and, of equal importance, the drawbacks for failing to do so. Fire Chief Hayden Boyd noted a very immediate concern for homeowners: a $200 to $300 increase to insurance costs that some will start to see in the coming year. That's just one of the major problems facing Duncan residents if the annexation fails.
