Workers inside the future Smart & Final Extra location at 2250 Highway 95 had to leave the building quickly after a report of a fire came in to emergency dispatch at about 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday. There were no reports of injuries. Several fire department crews arrived to see light smoke in front of the building. Some firefighters worked inside the building to extinguish the blaze as others concentrated their efforts on the roof. Investigators found evidence that the fire somehow ignited between the roof’s sheathing, according the fire department. Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
