Sierra Vista Fire and Medical Services firefighter and EMT Mike Gaspardo will receive his final call on July 23. Gaspardo, 56, has spent the last 20 years with the city, and 26 years as a firefighter and EMT for the both Fry Fire District and Sierra Vista Fire and Medical. He is retiring from the station to begin his “second life” in Japan with his wife Sharon and two of his four kids. “It’s been a great career. I’ve made a lot of great friends. And it’s getting kind of spooky now because it's coming to an end,” Gaspardo said. “Instead of retiring and kicking back in a rocking chair, I’m starting a second life.”
