The fire began around 6 p.m. when Wellton Fire Department was called to assist Tacna Fire Department after reports of a brush fire. After arriving at the scene located at Avenue 35E and County 8th Street, authorities discovered that the riverbed was on fire between the agriculture field and the desert. As of about an hour ago, 20 acres have been burnt. According to Wellton Fire Department, the fire has not been contained yet as both Wellton and Tacna Fire Departments continue to control the fire.
