Dave Cunningham has been hired as interim fire chief of the Golden Valley Fire District and will begin his new job April 1, GVFD spokesman Butch Meriwether said. Cunningham, a captain and 23-year veteran of the fire district, takes over for Jack Yeager, who resigned as interim chief to take a job as building and life safety inspector for Kingman Fire Department. Paul Gorham, chairman of GVFD board of directors, said Cunningham is a “dedicated and capable professional who has earned the respect and support of his fellow firefighters.” Cunningham started as a volunteer with Golden Valley Fire District in 1986 while he was in high school. After serving in the U.S. Army, he wanted to return to working for the fire department.
